Course name: User Interaction Design, 12 weeks lectures

* No prior knowledge of Interaction Design or Interface Design is necessary but a general understanding of communications, media, and the interactive media industry is encouraged

Assignment 1 > Weekly online visual diary + Individual Presentation: 60% | due: on-going to wk 11

- Weekly Online Visual Diary (http://www.wordpress-china.com/) or (http://www.wordpress.com)
  • Minimum 11 posts/entries (embedded with images, video, link etc)
  • Document all your research, observation, crazy ideas… (snap shot, draw & scan, book/magazine/website comment)
  • Design your own blog- wordpress: CSS, Themes, Widgets
  • Individual 5-minute Presentation {Random pick for every class (3 people)}

Assignment 2 > Group Presentation & New Design: 40% | due on wk 11

Identify any user interaction design in product/interface/service that you come across in your daily life, which you would like to improve their design or to enhance with a better interface.

You are required to form a group of 3-4 people, go through the process of concept development, research, planning, sketching and design. A final 15 minute presentation is required to summarize all your research, findings and suggested user interaction design.

You need to follow below guidelines:

1) At least 10 presentation slides

2) 1 slide will be about the split of work among the team

3) Print the slide (4 slides in a page) for final presentation & submission

4) Content should address the topics cover in class including but not limited to problem identification, target users, objective, concept planning, and final work design.

5) It is suggested to document all your findings in your wordpress research blog. For final presentation, you need to summarize all your findings and focus on the design result.

6) Explain clearly on how the new design is better than the previous one or if you would like to create a new thing that is not exist before, you need to mention about your new target users and reasons behind.

7) The New Design should be in the form of print/illustration or web or product (pls seek for approval if you would like to have other format.)

8) It is a group work, you are required to allocate the jobs evenly among the team.

Suggested topics as below, but you are encouraged to submit your own topic and get approval from me:

- Mobile phone interface

- A tourist map in Wuhan

- Revamp on website e.g QQ, Baidu etc

1) Presentation time management

2) Presentation skills

3) Content of the presentation

4) Concept and design of the final work
